Most "trusted"man in America?

Friday July 17, Walter Cronkite died at age 92. Headlines and broadcasters everywhere were using the phrase "most trusted man in America" to describe Mr Cronkite. This trust was misplaced. Walter Cronkite did not deserve to be trusted by America. Sure he was the anchor for CBS News but that job in itself does not Immediately bring the trust of America. Just ask Katie Couric .

February 27,1968 Cronkite made an editorial broadcast concerning the Vietnam War that changed much of the public perception of the way the war was going.

  1. It was Cronkite's misinformed bleating after TET that changed public opinion for sure. He followed that old press edict about never letting the truth get in the way of a good story. TET was largely a military disaster for the VC but it became a public relations bonanza thanks to the likes of Cronkite and others who wrote stories that were simply not true or were blown up out of all proportion and it was these tall tales that most certainly swayed public opinion for this long and bitter but winable war.
